			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I read this <a href="http://www.wvec.com/news/topstories/stories/wvec_local_103009_vb_survey_.26a358e65.html">article</a> from WVEC, and had to ask what about us, the taxpaying citizens of the City of Virginia Beach. Apparently the City Manager , instead of doing his job, making the tough decisions, Mr Spore&#8217;s office has decided to let the cities workers decide how to save $49 Million dollars for the 2011 fiscal year.

<div>I guess one way to save money is, getting rid of the employee&#8217;s/departments that have enough time available in their normal work day, to process 7,000 surveys&#8230;</div>

<div>Then you can eliminate take home vehicles, something I have thought was stupid for a long tin and as of yet fail to see what the value to the taxpayer is&#8230;</div>

<div>You may also want to consider not paying city workers to change lightbulbs in street lights on weekends, for which I betting there is some overtime involved, and since when does it take a crew of 4+ to change lightbulbs&#8230;</div>

<div>Then maybe you could start fining the city workers that run red lights in city vehicles, or cut subsidies to things like the Sandler Center, I read a while back that the city kicks down around a quarter million to help cover the costs there&#8230;</div>
